Defense of Marriage? It's like the old V-8 commercial. As though if this act didn't pass, heterosexual men all over the country would say, [smacking head] 'I could have married a guy!'
Barney Frank, U.S. Representative

                    Gay Marriage

Gay marriage.  The most crucial issue of our time as far as the Republicans are concerned.  "Ignore that man behind the curtain…," focus your attention instead on homosexual marriage.

Do not worry about our invasion and occupation of Iraq, and our troops stationed around the world in over 130 countries.  Ignore our “anti-terrorist” legislation that does little to prevent terrorism, especially from the U.S. government, and costs you all of your freedoms.  Never mind that we are spending your purloined tax dollars like drunken sailors on leave, as we can always dig deeper into your pockets.

So focus on gay marriage.  We will defend marriage, with a Constitutional Amendment.  Never mind that marriage is a State issue, not a federal one.  We have polling data that shows besides wrapping ourselves in the flag, that wrapping your marriage certificate around ourselves and preying upon your fears, we can once again get re-elected, and maintain our majority control over disbursement of the looted goodies.

Government has NO business in marriage in the first place.  “Marriage” is a concept that should be between a couple, or a trio, or a group, or even, as one prominent Republican no doubt lustily put it, "a man and his box turtle," and their “church.”

Marriage vows either mean something or they do not.  You do not need a government permit to sanctify your marriage.  And the government permit (a.k.a., the marriage license) is nothing more than a tax on marriage.  Another fee they hit you with.  Suckers!

Any legal arrangements needed can already be handled through contract law.

This is another bogus issue brought to you by the Republicans.  But go ahead, "ignore that man behind the curtain…. "

For those that disagree with me, my opponent Mr. Franks is a co-sponsor of this Amendment (H.J. Res. 56, 106 and H. Res. 132) that will make marriage a prerogative of the federal government, just like everything else.
